While Teams usage is growing, it can be difficult to properly start rolling out Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft has deployed a new capability in Teams, called Teams Advisor, to help you rolling out and increase Teams usage.
The Teams Advisor assess your Office 365 tenant to determine the most common configuration you may have to implement or update to successfully roll out Teams.
At first (during the preview), the Advisor will help you assessing the readiness for:
- Chat, Teams, Channel and app
The Chat, Teams, Channel and App assessment covers:
Teams licenses | Whether you have an active subscription with available Teams licenses |
Exchange licenses | Whether you have an active subscription with available Exchange Online licenses. While Exchange isn’t required for basic Teams functionality, integration with Exchange provides an optimal Teams experience. |
SharePoint Online licenses | Whether you have an active subscription with available SharePoint Online licenses. You need one SharePoint Online license per user for file storage, channel collaboration, and chat. |
Guest access enabled | If guest access is turned on in Teams. Azure Active Directory settings for guest access are not reviewed. |
Vanity domain configured | Whether there’s a non-@onmicrosoft.com domain configured for your tenant |
Office 365 Group naming standard configured | Whether naming standards have been configured for Office 365 Groups |
Office 365 Group expiration configured | Whether a Group expiration policy has been defined for Office 365 Groups. If not, the value is set to never. |
External access configured | If external access is turned on so you can communicate with external organizations in Teams. |

The Meeting and Conferencing assessment covers:
Teams licenses | Whether you have an active subscription with available Teams licenses |

Audio conferencing licenses | Whether you have an active subscription with Audio conferencing licenses |
Stream licenses | Whether you have an active subscription with Stream licenses, which can used should Meeting Recording be desired. |
Guest access | If guest access is turned on in Teams. Azure Active Directory settings for guest access are not reviewed. |

To start using the Teams Advisor, logon to your Teams administration portal (https://admin.teams.microsoft.com) and either click on the Deploying Teams Workload available in the home/dashboard page or reach out to the Planning\Teams Advisor blade
Then you will get the initial assessment result for you tenant to start deploying (or updating) your Teams roll out

Then you can add some team member going to assist in the rollout of teams
After adding the team users, the system provision a group, Planner (with corresponding tasks) and a Teams and channel
This Deployment team Teams will help you track progress of your rollout.
