As System Center 2019 has just been released, let see how to use Azure for the update management in System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) 2019.
Off course as prerequisites you must have an Azure tenant and have an running SCVMM 2019; in addition of these obvious requirements, you will also need to have an automation account and a Log Analytics workspace with the Update Management solution.
Enable SCVMM to use Azure for update management
So, open the SCVMM console and reach the Library workspace to right click on the Azure Profiles section (available below the Profiles main section) to choose Create Azure profile
Then you name the profile, select the appropriate cloud provided (this should be – most of the time – Public Azure), the subscription ID and the profile usage will be set to Azure Update Management
Then you define your Azure automation account and log analytics workspace details
Enable use of Azure for update management on the virtual machine
Once you have configured the Azure profile for update management, you can create/edit virtual machine template to enable the use of Azure Update management option available in the Extensions
