A Windows desktop application is available in preview for users ‘stuck’ with Internet Explorer to help getting a ‘modern’ experience.
It is (or should) known that Internet Explorer is no longer being viewed as a ‘modern’ web browser and as such end-users (including administrators) may experience ‘interesting’ behaviour while using IE. in the meantime, Microsoft is aware that IE is still being set at the default (not to say only) web browser in many organization because of legacy web application not supporting other web browsers.
To help such end-users/administrators to have the same experience while accessing Azure portal than with a ‘modern’ browser (like Edge or Google Chrome), a Windows desktop application is available in preview here https://preview.portal.azure.com/app/welcome
So after having downloaded and installed this ‘click-to-run’ application, end-users will then be able to access Azure portal and use it as if they were using a more modern browser. I have to say I did not notice any difference when using the Azure portal with Internet Explorer or with Google Chrome (except off course you access the preview Azure portal – https://preview.portal.azure.com)
NOTE this application does not show up in the Control Panel\Programs and Features
You have access to the same functionalities than with the web-browser portal; including Azure Cloud Shell or services search
