If you are synching your on-premises Active Directory to Entra ID using Entra Connect, you need to plan to upgrade to the latest version 2.6.1.0
This new version does not provide any new capabilities, rather bugs fixes or improving existing features.
This new version:
- introduces a change in managed certificate lifetime when using the application based authentication. The certificate expiration period is now set to 90 days with a renewal set to 70% of the lifetime instead of the previous fixed 30 days
- fixes and issue when using the Synchornization Service Manager UI console to modify Entra ID connector (highly not recommended) causing wizard and certificate rotation failures.
- fixes an issue with staging mode if password write-back is disabled
- enhances the application based authentication logging in Event Viewer
- fixes accessibility issues
The new version is available for download from the Entra ID portal, Entra Connect\Connect Sync blade (Microsoft Entra Connect – Microsoft Entra admin center)
While you should always disable synchronization before upgrading the a new version, if you are stuck with the error “synchronization is in progress” after the upgrade when running the wizard to complete the upgrade process, a simple server restart will help resolving the issue.
