When managing identity systems – such as Active Directory or Entra ID, from time to time, administrators must edit multiple users at once.
Until then (and this is still the case for Active Directory, when you had to do such thing on Entra ID, administrators had to use a script.
Well, good news as you can now edit multiple users (up to 60) at once on Entra ID.
This new user management option allow you to bulk edit the following:
- Properties – allows you to edit specific set of user’s properties; multiple properties can be edited at once
- City
- Company name
- Country or region
- Department
- Employee hire date
- Employee type
- Job title
- Office location
- State or province
- Street address
- Usage location
- ZIP or postal code
- Manager
- Sponsors
- Group
- Administrative Unit (only if you have already created Administrative Unit – see Administrative units in Microsoft Entra ID – Microsoft Entra ID | Microsoft Learn to know more about)
- Account Status
- Revoke sessions
To start using it, connect to your Entra ID portal (https://entra.microsoft.com/) to access the Users\All users blade.
NOTE 1: Off course, before you do a bulk updates you need to ensure you are going to edit the excepted users by using the filters.
NOTE 2: If you are editing synchronized users, some of these options may not work as expected – such as Properties, Manager or Account Status as these are managed from Active Directory. This may not always being reported when you are trying to edit.
