If you use Azure Virtual Desktop, you already know that there are multiple options to connect to your virtual desktop host:
- Azure Virtual Desktop client
- Azure Virtual Desktop (preview) application from Microsoft Store
- Web browser (Remote Desktop Web Client (microsoft.com))
- and more recently (since November 2023) the Windows App (see Azure Virtual Desktop – A new application to connect to AVD/Cloud PC (preview) (hametbenoit.info))
Well, if you have been using the Azure Virtual Desktop client you need to know that Microsoft is now transitioning from this client to the Microsoft App which is becoming generally available.
So if your users have been using the Virtual Desktop client, start communicating (and deploying) about the use of the Windows App instead.
You can get the Windows App from the Microsoft store here:
- Windows Windows App – Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store
- MacOS Microsoft Remote Desktop Beta – still marked as Beta for now
- iOS Remote Desktop Mobile on the App Store (apple.com)
- Android Remote Desktop – Apps on Google Play
The Windows App application provides access to both Azure Virtual Desktop and M365 Desktop within the same client, rather than having to use multiple clients.
