Forms – You can allow responders to edit their response and receive a copy of their response

Microsoft Forms has been updated to allow responders to edit their response and also receive a copy of their response.

To allow responders to edit their response an Office 365 administrator must turn on the Allow responders to edit their responses setting from the Office 365 administration portal (https://admin.microsoft.com/).

To so access the Settings\Org settings blade, then access the Services to edit the Forms settings and enable Allow responders to edit their responses

Once done, new and existing Forms will have the option available under the Options for responses section (turned off by default).

From the same location, Forms author can also enable the option to Allow receipt of responses after submission under the Response receipts option.

Responder experience may differ depending of the collection of response settings:

  • If anyone can answer then responder will only be able to print a copy

  • If only or some people in my organization can respond they will have the option to request a copy. This will be an email (sent from maccount@microsoft.com) with a link to View my responses

Once the Forms has been submitted, if the option to edit response after submission is enabled there will be a button to Save and edit later. Do not enable the edit response after submission if anyone can answer.

When hitting the Save and edit later button, responders (from my organization only) will be redirected back to their Forms portal where the filled form will be shown.

When accessing one of the filled form, the Edit response button will be available top right of the form
