Azure AD – You can now writeback from Azure AD to Workday

As you may know, Microsoft and Workday have been working pretty hard to make Workday integration with Azure Active Directory (AAD) as seamless as possible.

This integration now goes one step further as you can writeback from Azure AD to Workday.

This means if an attribute is updated on Azure AD, you can get the value of this attribute (if you have an attribute mapping configured off course) written back to Workday.

This can be handy during on-boarding process where Workday defines, let say, the email address but then once synced with Azure AD (and Office 365 in that matter), the assigned email address is already in use. In this situation, without the write-back, there is a discrepancy between Workday and Azure AD for the email address attribute.

If you want to start using this new capability, you need to get the Workday Writeback application from your Azure AD (Enterprise Application). All configuration details are available here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/saas-apps/workday-inbound-tutorial#configuring-azure-ad-attribute-writeback-to-workday
