A new service has appear in Office 365 called Microsoft Search.
Microsoft Search is going to use Bing and Windows Search to provide search results to end-users on Office 365.
The service is turned off by default and if you want to experiment/enable it you need to logon to your Office 365 admin portal (https://admin.microsoft.com) and reach out the Settings\Services & add-ins to enable Microsoft Search
Then search for Microsoft Search and enable the service
If you do not enable first the service as above you can do it by reaching out the Admin Centers\Microsoft Search section
Then a new window/tab will open asking you either to enroll your tenant (administrators option) or sign-in (enrolled tenant for end-users)
As administrator you first need to enroll your tenant by selecting the Enroll your business and follow the wizard which then will redirect you to the Services & add-ins section to enable Microsoft Search.
Once enabled, you can reach the Microsoft Search administration portal either using the direct URL https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=856439 or through the Admin Centers\Microsoft Search section from the Office 365 administration portal
From there, you can configure Microsoft Search by following the onboarding wizard
First you have to define which Office 365 services will be used by Microsoft Search – from ‘People’ to Yammer, including Teams or SharePoint
Then you can customize the service by defining the logo, a feedback email address (default set to your administrator account email address) and changing the organization name (default set to your Office 365 tenant name)
Finally you can import you SharePoint search best bet configuration
And you are done
Microsoft Search Tools
Then you can provide extensions to your end-user for Chrome or Edge by accessing the Tools section, a Windows 10 and AAD extension for Chrome, or update your imported SharePoint search settings (queries, promoted sites..)
Microsoft Search Settings
The Content Settings section will let you update your initial configuration, changing the organization name, logo or feedback email address
Microsoft Search Connected Services
The Connected Services configuration tab will let you enable/disable Office 365 services being used by Microsoft Search
Microsoft Search Users & Permissions
The Users & Permissions section will let you define who can administer Microsoft Search from the administrator service level to the content level as well as granting access to end-users for the preview
By default all users in your organization will have access; if you want to restrict it you need to open the Manage preview access and disable the option Add everyone in your organization and then define the end-users list
The Preview users tab will then be updated to provide the define users list
