As you may already know, Microsoft has included (finally) his hypervisor (Hyper-V) on the Windows 8 client.
However, Hyper-V 3.0 can’t be installed on every x64 processor – such Intel Centrino 2.
Indeed, your x64 processor must have a second level address translation capabilities.
For checking if you can enable Hyper-V 3.0 on your computer, you can use the tool Coreinfo available at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cc835722
Run this tool in command prompt
You will get all information about your processor; the important ones are:
- EPT for Intel processor
- NPT for AMD processor
* means this is supported while – means this is not supported.
