If you use Azure Virtual Desktop as virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution, you already know you have 2 different pool types:
- Personal: used for dedicated use by assigned user to provide a consistent and personalized environment (single VM per assigned users)
- Pooled: allow multiple users to share a set of users
When you use the Personal type, you can only assign one virtual machine per user per host pool.
Well, that was until now.
You can now assign multiple Personal desktop to a single user within the host pool.
This functionality is currently in preview.
It removes the need of deploying and managing multiple host pool when there is a need for assigning multiple desktop to a user.
When creating the AVD hostpool, you need to select the Personal type and a direct assignment; the functionality is not (yet?) available when using automatic assignment.
If you already have a personal hostpool deployed, you can enable this feature by accessing the hostpool properties blade
