This issue has been already there with the beta build but it is still present on RTM.
After installation and configuring SharePoint 2013, you may see a process called noderunner consuming lot of resources (CPU & Memory – especially memory).
To solve this issue, just follow these 2 steps:
- Using SharePoint Management Shell, run the command Set-SPEnterpriseSearchService -PerformanceLevel Reduced
- Open the noderunner.exe.config file present below C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\15.0\Search\Runtime\1.0 and change the memoryLimitMegaBytes attributes to set a memory limit (this attribute is located at the nodeRunnerSettings tag
By default, memoryLimitMegaBytes is set to 0, so there is no memory limit.
After the update, restart your SharePoint Search service
